Disclosure – Pearls & Pitfalls is ASHRM’s first scenario-based eLearning program designed to provide risk professionals with strategies, tools and practice needed to feel confident in managing the disclosure process when an adverse patient event happens.
Adverse patient events occur but how they are managed is the key to mitigating reputational and financial risk. Failure to keep all the appropriate individuals in the communication loop may cause trust issues and could lead to negative publicity, loss of ability to resolve a claim amicably, and hamper the professional liability process.
This eLearning program offers strategies and tools to facilitate effective communication after an adverse patient event. You will learn how to set up the disclosure meeting for success while demonstrating empathy and transparency and what actions should be taken in the investigative process to best identify the root causes associated with the incident.
By simulating a variety of potential scenarios and providing feedback and guidance based on actual experiences from ASHRM members, this resource can help you prepare for the challenges of disclosure and ensure that patients receive the information and support they need to make informed decisions about their care.
