Speaker Bios

Pamela Popp has managed and internalized some of the largest health care liability claim programs nationally, including Stanford University Medical Center, Tenet Healthcare, Spectrum Healthcare Serves, and SSM Health Care. She has served in risk and claims management consulting roles on the brokerage sides as well as in-house with several large malpractice carriers. In her current role, Pamela manages the GB Healthcare Risk Consulting Practice, working with self-insured clients to identify, mitigate and prevent risks, enhance the patient experience and educate providers on the strengths of disclosure and apology programs. Pamela has been involved in risk management organizations at the local, state and national level over 30 years. She served as the president of ASHRM and a multi-year board member, as well as a president of the American Hospital Associations’ Certification Center. Pamela served as board president of the International Center for Captive Insurance Education, ICCIE, and continues as a faculty member on health care captive and risk financing topics. She has served on committees of the Vermont Captive Insurance Association, VCIA; Physician Hospitals of America, PHA; and is a frequent speaker and author on risk, claims and risk financing topics. Pamela is licensed to practice law in both Missouri and Illinois. She serves as adjunct faculty on risk and insurance for Regis University in Denver. She received her bachelor’s degree from Truman State University, dual masters from Webster University, and her Juris Doctor from St. Louis University. She is a Distinguished Fellow with ASHRM and a Distinguished Service Award recipient. Pamela recently was recognized with the Harry and Dorothy Goodell Award from RIMS, in recognition of lifetime industry leadership, innovation and commitment.

Georgene Saliba is the currently the Vice President, Insurance for UHS of Delaware, Inc. In that role, she places all lines of insurance, oversees claims management, workers’ compensation, behavioral health and acute care risk management, environmental risk and emergency management functional areas. Prior to assuming this position, Georgene was the Senior Director, Corporate Risk Management, Acute Care, where she was responsible for analysis and oversight of the risk management and patient safety functions for all UHS acute care facilities, including participation in facility surveys to evaluate functionality of the facility risk programs and performance of risk staff. Prior to coming to UHS in 2014, she was the Administrator Risk Management & Patient Safety for Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown PA. She is a diploma graduate of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, obtained her BSN from Cedar Crest College and her MBA from DeSales University. She holds the CPHRM and FASHRM designations. She is a Past President of ASHRM and a current faculty member. She has been a speaker both nationally and regionally on risk management and patient safety topics.

Elizabeth Sivertsen is the Medical Ethicist at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, where she coordinates ethics education and policy development and fields over 300 ethics consultations per year. She completed her Master of Bioethics degree at Harvard Medical School with concentrations in clinical and neuro- ethics. She received her bachelor's in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology from Emory University before going on to pursue her accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, MA. Elizabeth previously trained and worked as a Surgical Trauma ICU nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she was an active member of the ethics committee and consultation service.
