    About the Course

  • Leveraging Data to Proactively Reduce the Risk of Health Care Disparities

    Wednesday, April 17 | 5 p.m.

CMS’s recent Patient Safety Structural Measure underscored the intersectionality of safety and equity goals while highlighting how operations can impact both. To address the systemic inequities that pervade the current health care environment and ultimately provide safer care for all, leaders and risk managers must advance critical operational factors, such as providing effective empathic support after harm in health care, data management, staffing practices and peer support resources — addressing potential shortcomings head-on. By harmonizing these vital functions through connected health care operations, health systems can improve outcomes for everyone.

Following this session, attendees will be able to:

    • Describe the comprehensive, principled and systematic approach to the prevention and response to patient harm in a way that mitigates the risk associated with harm in health care.
    • Learn how to accurately capture demographic information, identify disparities and effectively collect related actionable data points.
    • Understand how risk managers can collect information from across multiple functional areas to keep patients, people and organizations safer.
