Speaker:

Ololade "Lo" Mitchell, MS, MSN, MPH, RN, CPHRM, CLNC, is the Director of Risk & Patient Safety at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. A Chicago native, she launched her healthcare career as a night shift nurse at UChicago Medicine, later earning master’s degrees in nursing, public health, and healthcare quality & patient safety. Her work spans roles in patient safety, risk management, and quality leadership at various institutions, including OMS National Insurance Company, RML Specialty Hospital, and UChicago Medicine. Since Fall 2023, Lo has led risk management and patient safety across the Northwestern Medicine system, committed to advancing care quality and safety throughout the Chicagoland area.

Leah Fitzgerald, Esq., RN, CPHRM, is an attorney who started her career as a labor and delivery nurse. After graduating law school, she was the clinical risk manager for one of the largest freestanding pediatric health systems in the country. From there, Leah was a plaintiff’s attorney at a national medical malpractice litigation firm. In 2021, Leah joined the legal team at Gillette Children’s in St. Paul, Minnesota, and manages risk for the organization. Leah is passionate about humanizing the practice of law and strives to practice that way each day.
