Practical Application of Proactive Safety: Evolving Our Approach
ASHRM CE Credit: 1
Learn how to operationalize modern safety concepts in health care to enhance patient safety.
Learn how a proactive safety (Safety II) approach can enhance and complement the traditional (Safety I) approach in health care. Hear about how two very different clinical settings – a large, pediatric hospital and a nation-wide anesthesia practice, implemented modern safety concepts in health care to improve patient safety.
- Identify the differences between Safety I and Safety II approaches to reduce patient harm
- Learn how these two approaches are complementary in creating a more holistic approach to patient safety
- Identify the steps needed to implement a performance improvement project based on these Safety II principles
- Learn about practical applications of novel safety strategies adopted from other high risk industries
