In this presentation, the speakers will discuss observations "outsiders" are noticing about organizations related to Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).

Health care is no stranger to adopting best practices from other industries – and Enterprise Risk Management is no exception. Health care provider organizations, in fact, are beginning to hire ERM leaders from outside of health care to tap into the experience of more mature industries, markets, and geographies. What are these "outsiders" finding once they arrive? How are their perspectives benefiting their health care organizations, and are they finding examples where health care's application of ERM could serve as lessons for others?

Objectives:

  • • How health care's application of ERM aligns with -- and varies from -- the experience of other industries.
  • • The critical components and approaches to ERM across every organization and industry.
  • • What health care organizations can teach others about effective ERM.
  • • Why Integrated Risk Management may be a more relevant term than either ERM or Governance, Risk & Compliance.
