In this episode, we will discuss why it is time to move workforce professional wellbeing out of the "wellness" silo and into the core of risk management strategy. The conversation explores the limitations of relying solely on individual resiliency and shifts the focus toward how organizational structures can either mitigate or exacerbate risk. By treating wellbeing as a risk management strategy, organizations can proactively address these liabilities. For the ASHRM member, this shift is two-fold: it provides a tactical roadmap for reducing organizational risk and directly supports their own professional wellbeing by fostering a safer, more supported environment. Listeners will gain insights into how to lead their institutions in forming strategic partnerships that accelerate systemic change and ensure that those who provide care are just as protected as those who receive it.
Learning Objectives:
- Connect Workforce Wellbeing to Organizational Risk: Analyze how burnout and mental health distress across the entire healthcare workforce create measurable liabilities, from increased safety incidents to staffing instability.
- Reframing Resiliency as a Systemic Property: Discuss the shift from individual resiliency to systems support, illustrating how a system that supports its workers’ wellbeing reduces the volume of adverse events Impacting patient care.
- Identify and Remove Structural Barriers to Care: Use examples like credentialing reform to demonstrate the removal of institutional barriers that prevent health workers from accessing support.
