Pennsylvania measles outbreak grows as nation surpasses 4,000 confirmed cases
There are now 1,136 confirmed measles cases in Pennsylvania this year amid the state’s outbreak, the Pennsylvania Department of Health announced Oct. 9. Of those, 219 individuals have been hospitalized and five people have died. Nationally, there have been 4,080 confirmed cases of measles this year, according to the latest update by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Of those, the vaccination status of 95% of cases is unvaccinated or unknown.
