A Message from ASHRM Leadership Regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic

Dear ASHRM Member,

We all find ourselves in uncharted territory as our daily lives adjust to the rapidly evolving response to the COVID-19 pandemic. On behalf of ASHRM, we would like to take a moment to express our gratitude for the work that you are doing to protect the communities that you serve. We recognize your extraordinary efforts. ASHRM is here to support you while your focus is on the organization, community and the patients we serve.

ASHRM is working closely with the American Hospital Association (AHA) and other AHA Professional Membership Groups to identify and provide up-to-date resources for you to utilize during this unprecedented time. We have a COVID-19 page on our website that includes resources compiled from authoritative sources and organizations, to better prepare you to actively participate and plan risk mitigation for your organization. Today we updated the page to include new resources on infection control in the health care environment along with supply chain recommendations. You can find this page at https://www.ashrm.org/COVID19RM.

ASHRM members have always been exceptional at supporting each other. Now more than ever, we encourage you to look to your fellow health care risk management professionals for their expertise and support. All ASHRM members have 24/7 access to the ASHRM Exchange community, where members are already collaborating to understand and address the unique challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic response. Workforce monitoring, visitation policies and home care visits are just a few of the emerging issues that our members are discussing and sharing policies to address.

We recognize that an enterprise risk management approach means examining processes and having conversations to gain a holistic understanding of a problem. In the spirit of ERM, we are calling on you to share your challenges and successes on the ASHRM Exchange community. Likewise, we welcome your ideas and your feedback as this situation continues, you can reach out to us at ASHRM@aha.org

With the needs of our communities in mind, we announced the cancellation of ASHRM Academy 2020 earlier this week. This was the outcome of weeks of considerable deliberation followed by careful planning to ensure we could do the right thing for our attendees by offering full refunds for the event.

ASHRM is committed to being here for you through this unprecedented time. Our staff is working safely at home in response to the call for social distancing to support public health. We will continue to be available for you; we are just an email or a call away.

Thank you for all that you are doing to support your organizations and communities in this time of emergency, and as always, thank you for supporting the mission of advancing safe and trusted health care.

Sincerely,
