Risk professionals pride themselves on resilience, problem-solving, and constant availability. Unfortunately, they often manage these crises and support others without recognizing their own emotional strain and self-imposed expectations of perfection. This creates an all-too familiar paradox: high achieving leaders feel “too busy to be burned out,” even as their capacity steadily declines. In this session Gregg Timmons shares a candid account of reaching professional burnout and rediscovering what it means to lead - and live - with clarity, balance, and purpose.

Participants will explore the pressures that make risk leaders vulnerable—perfectionism, overcommitment, and blurred boundaries—and learn practical, evidence-based strategies for restoring balance and resilience. Through guided reflection, whether seasoned or new to the profession, attendees will reconnect with what matters most and begin shaping a more fulfilling and sustainable work-life balance.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify and analyze professional demands and self-imposed expectations that contribute to burnout among healthcare professionals.
  2. Compare and evaluate evidence-based strategies for reducing burnout and enhancing resilience, including self-awareness, self-care, coaching, and mindfulness.
  3. Construct a personalized action plan that integrates motivational drivers, self-assessment reflection, and resilience-building practices to support long-term professional well-being.
