Step Up Together: Improving Community to Hospital Perinatal Transfers Through Collaboration is a practical, scenario-based webinar designed to strengthen emergency preparedness and coordination across perinatal care settings. Participants will explore the purpose and benefits of conducting transfer drills that simulate real-life emergencies, beginning in the community and concluding in the hospital. Through the use of Drill Kits, attendees will learn how to implement high-fidelity drills that enhance team readiness, communication, and safety. The session will also highlight best practices for effective drills—including role assignment, communication strategies, and safety checklists—and demonstrate how interprofessional collaboration can improve outcomes during time-sensitive perinatal transfers.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Explain the purpose and benefits of running transfer drills in community and hospital settings.
  2. Demonstrate the use of Drill Kits to conduct high-fidelity emergency transfer drills that begin in the community, move by emergency transport, and end in the hospital.
  3. Identify best practices of an effective transfer drill, including role assignment, communication strategies, and safety checklists.
  4. Apply principles of interprofessional collaboration to improve coordination across disciplines involved in emergency transfers.
