Healthcare risk professionals rely on far more than technical knowledge. Their effectiveness depends on building relationships, communicating clearly, influencing change without direct authority, and navigating difficult conversations with patients, families, providers and leaders. Strengthening these skills enhances collaboration, supports a strong culture of safety and ultimately improves patient outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the value of soft skills in healthcare risk management.
- Apply techniques, such as emotional intelligence, conversational intelligence, and Plus/Delta to staff interviews, feedback conversations, and post-event discussions.
- Recognize and avoid common communication pitfalls.
