Workplace violence is an omnipresent risk for employees in some environments. In the absence of increased federal regulation, states are actively increasing their own legislation and regulatory mandating aimed at preventing and responding to violence in the health care sector. In this session the presenters, a former OSHA attorney and a healthcare security executive turned consultant, will provide an overview of recent and upcoming state legislation and federal guidance. Additionally they will discuss compliance strategies and existing best practices in workplace violence prevention.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the current landscape of health care workplace violence related regulations
  2. Prepare for likely scenarios for expected upcoming health care workplace violence legislative mandates
  3. Take best practices in workplace violence prevention back to their organizations for implementation
