Healthcare organizations face significant financial exposure from malpractice claims, making it essential for risk managers to understand how reserves are established and how funding needs are projected. This webinar introduces the fundamentals of the claims reserving process and explains how financial commitments are determined for potential and asserted claims, including within self‑insured programs. Participants will gain clarity on reserve philosophy, consistent reserving practices, and the role of paid and reported losses in actuarial analysis. This session equips attendees with the knowledge needed to better collaborate with claims, finance, and actuarial teams.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Defining a reserve ‘philosophy’
  2. Utilizing ‘consistent’ reserving
  3. Understanding the role that paid and reported losses have in the actuarial analysis
