ASHRM Announces 2023 Risk Management Professional of the Year

CHICAGO (Sept. 14, 2023) – The American Society for Health Care Risk Management (ASHRM) named Nuvance Health Assistant Vice President of Risk Management Tracy Melina the 2023 Risk Management Professional of the Year. This award recognizes an outstanding individual for their advancement and service to health care risk management. 
Since joining Nuvance Health in 2018, Melina has made a positive impact on the Danbury, Conn.-based nonprofit health system and its team members. As part of her role mentoring newer risk professionals and overseeing resident education, the highly motivated Melina has developed and maintained trusted interdepartmental relationships leading to greater operational efficiencies. 
 
Additionally, she helped develop and successfully implemented the Serious Safety Event Review Team (SERT) across Nuvance Health, resulting in reduced risk. Over the last several years, Melina redesigned SERT to adapt to training and education challenges brought on by the COVID-19 public health emergency and related staffing constraints. She has successfully driven change while maintaining the integrity of the review process, always keeping the patients and staff as priorities.

Melina will be recognized for her outstanding accomplishments at ASHRM’s Annual Conference on Oct. 2, 2023.
