Navigating the maze of HazMat, HazChem, HazWaste, and HazDrugs regulations is a persistent challenge for health care organizations. This webinar, Demystifying “HazMat, HazChem, HazWaste and HazDrugs” Regulations and Risks, provides health care risk professionals and operational leaders with a clear roadmap to differentiate and align the overlapping compliance requirements of OSHA, USEPA/RCRA, DOT, and NIOSH/USP. Attendees will explore how these regulations intersect with accreditation standards across high-risk departments—such as laboratories, facilities, EVS, and pharmacy—and learn to identify common compliance pitfalls, effective corrective actions, and best practice strategies. Through real-world examples and collaborative approaches, participants will gain the tools to assess their organization’s EH&S readiness and drive sustainable compliance across their campuses and systems.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Differentiate and untangle USEPA, DOT, OSHA, and NIOSH/USP regulatory compliance requirements for hospitals and health care organizations.
  2. Link governmental safety and environmental compliance requirements with accreditation organization standards for laboratories, facilites/plant operations, EVS, and pharmacies/pharmaceutical administration that typically represent the greatest EH&S risks and liabilities.
  3. Evaluate typical non-compliant findings, corrective actions, and best practice management strategies across key hospital groups, and compare your organization’s safety and environmental regulatory compliance readiness to those demonstrating industry-leading practices.
