ASHRM Recognizes Abington Hospital with Patient Safety Award

CHICAGO (October XX, 2017) – The American Society of Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) has named Abington Hospital-Jefferson Health of Abington, Pa., as the recipient of the annual ASHRM Patient Safety Award - Partnering with Datix to Recognize Patient Safety Innovation.

This annual award recognizes organizational excellence in patient safety and celebrates the efforts of risk management professionals in promoting patient safety across the health care field.

Abington Hospital’s submission highlighted their use of a structured process and standard language that has dramatically improved the organization’s ability to be proactive in identifying risk. Abington’s “Create a Safe Night Program” was created to address the potential for clinical deterioration in those patients at risk for decline during the overnight hours. Initiated in April 2015, the program utilizes multidisciplinary teams to create situational awareness and develop appropriate plans to enhance patient care.

Maureen Frye, Director, Center for Patient Safety and Health Care Quality accepted the award on behalf of Abington Hospital – Jefferson Health at ASHRM’s Annual Conference on October 17, 2017 in Seattle, Wash.

ASHRM Patient Safety Award - Partnering with Datix to Recognize Patient Safety Innovation was created to recognize innovations that promote patient safety as well as overall organizational excellence. The award recognizes programs that support collaboration with other providers across the continuum of care and can be replicated or adapted by other organizations.
