Domain: Clinical Patient Safety
Throughout this prerecorded webinar, you will learn more about creating a strong organizational culture coupled with practices to improve your organizational culture for the delivery of quality care.
Culture. What comes to mind when you think of culture? Are you considering the various cultures we have in the health care industry? Does your mind go to a just culture or a learning culture? Have you considered a patient safety culture? We know that culture impacts our patients, our staff, and our organizations. Many patient and quality organizations, including the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, have focused on culture. In 2017, The Joint Commission released "Sentinel Event Alert 57: The essential role of leadership in developing a safety culture". This program brings together considerations for leadership and best practices to enrich our culture and enhance quality outcomes for those we serve. Cultural change is not a sprint, but a marathon that takes our dedication and commitment.
- • Articulate the impact of culture on patients, staff members, and the organization.
- • Define key attributes of various cultural initiatives (learning culture, just culture, and patient safety culture).
- • Utilize ideas, methods, and considerations to appraise their organizational culture.
