Leading Together: Learn how you, as the risk manager, can you be an active part of ERM through participation in risk evaluation using the 8 ERM Risk Domains (operational, clinical/safety, strategic, finance, human capital, legal/regulatory, technology, and hazard). We will discuss the risk manager’s role in each area, methods for identifying risks within each domain, and how to use the ERM decision making process to guide analysis and risk mitigation. Our discussion will stress the role of the risk manager in leading proactive risk-based thinking in the ERM organization.

  • Participants will describe the risk manager's role in enterprise risk management
  • Participants will describe one method for identifying risks within the enterprise risk management domains.

    Amy is responsible for providing risk management consulting services to the members of Palmetto Healthcare Liability Insurance Program (PHLIP) in order to assess, identify, and reduce risks in the areas of professional and general liability. She provides assessments, education, and resources to address specific areas of concern identified by members. Amy works with other risk management staff on projects relating to worker safety for Palmetto Hospital Trust members. In addition, Amy provides clinical risk management consulting services to hospitals and health systems across the country. She is also involved in the development, preparation, and delivery of various educational programs. Amy is a registered nurse with experience in the fields of medical/surgical, oncological, and emergency care, administration, risk management, and patient safety. She also served as adjunct clinical nursing faculty at Piedmont Technical College.

    Ed is the Senior Vice President of Risk Strategic Ventures for The Risk Authority Stanford (TRA Stanford), as well as the Director of Loss Controls and Education at Stanford Health Care and Stanford Children’s Health. In his role at TRA Stanford, Ed oversees clinical risk management, workplace solutions and claims and litigation operations.With over 20 years of diverse risk and insurance management experience, Ed is an authority in managing risks in healthcare and industrial sectors. He is nationally recognized for his development of innovative loss control risk management programs, which have led to dramatic increases in both patient safety and financial savings.Additionally, his knowledge and leadership helped Stanford Hospital and Clinics receive the “Best Practice Award” for safe patient handling – one of TRA Stanford’s key strategic patient and employee initiatives.Ed received a BS in Fire and Safety Engineering and an MS in Loss Prevention and Safety from Eastern Kentucky University and is also a Certified Safety Professional (CSP). Ed also received a certificate in Strategic Decision and Risk Management from Stanford University’s Center for Professional Development.
