As a result of the 2012 New England Compounding Center contamination, many institutions have re-examined their strategies for providing compounded sterile preparations (CSPs). This webinar will address new legislation regulating the compounding industry, key issues surrounding compounded sterile preparations, and options available to institutions to ensure quality.
This webinar will help participants to:
- Explain the new legislation governing the compounding industry
- Identify the pros and cons of different CSP types
- Evaluate and choose a quality outsourcer based on key criteria

Andrew J. Donnelly, PharmD, MBA, FASHP
Director of Pharmacy
University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System
Dr. Donnelly received his Doctor of Pharmacy and Masters of Business Administration degrees from the University of Illinois. He is currently Director of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System as well as Clinical Professor and Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy. In his current position, Dr. Donnelly is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the pharmacy department and ensuring the rational, safe, and cost-effective use of drugs in patients. The majority of Dr. Donnelly’s clinical practice has been concentrated in the areas of operating room (OR) pharmacy and anesthesiology. His areas of interest include pharmacy administration, technology and automation as it relates to the medication use process, and anesthesiology/OR pharmacy.
Continuing Education Credits
This program is approved for a total of 1.0 contact hour of Continuing Education Credit toward fulfillment of the requirements of ASHRM designations of FASHRM (Fellow) and DFASHRM (Distinguished Fellow), and toward CPHRM renewal.
