Pre-Conference Programs

Prior to the Annual Conference, ASHRM offers various in-depth, two-day educational programs for those who want to make the most of their time in Indianapolis.  All programs begin at 1 pm on Friday, October 16th and end by noon on Sunday, October 18th.  You are able to participate in one of the programs below.  Sessions are also offered at ASHRM Academy in the spring.


Healthcare Risk Management Certificate Program

The Healthcare Risk Management Certificate Program, a cornerstone of ASHRM’s professional development opportunities, identifies and explains key aspects of the risk management role. This program provides interactive, learner-centered content, allowing participants to work through healthcare risk management scenarios, make critical decisions and interact with leading experts in the field of risk management. The program includes three modules: Essentials in Healthcare Risk Management, Applications in Healthcare Risk Management and Advanced Forum in Healthcare Risk Management. Participants who complete all three modules will earn a certificate.


Enterprise Risk Management: Concepts and Strategies

This ERM program addresses the needs and ongoing challenges of the risk management professional in an enterprise risk management environment (ERM) and provides guidance. The program offers a complete learning environment with pre-symposium readings, on-site presentations, group discussions, Q & A with experts and group projects with online webinars. A collaborative learning environment gives attendees an opportunity to hone their skills, share successes and challenging situations plus discuss ERM with senior enterprise risk management professionals.


CPHRM Exam Prep Course

The Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) is the healthcare industry's premier certification for the risk management profession. The review course is intended to assist eligible risk management professionals prepare for the CPHRM certification exam. While the course is not designed to teach foundational concepts, it can help participants focus on content areas that may require a more in-depth review, as well as identify familiar content areas for which a more cursory review will suffice. The agenda for the course corresponds to the five major content areas of the CPHRM Exam.
