AHA launches Web portal, including new ASHRM Web site

The American Society for Healthcare Risk Management wants its Web site to be more valuable. To that end, ASHRM and the American Hospital Association on July 10, 2002, launched HospitalConnectâ„¢. Two important parts of this service are the creation of an Internet portal and a redesigned ASHRM Web site.

What's a portal?

An Internet portal connects communities of users who share similar and complementary interests. Members of related communities can get to a portal via the route they've used in the past (such as www.ashrm.org), or they can use the portal's main entrance. For the new AHA portal, the main entrance is www.hospitalconnect.com. While each of the AHA's almost 40 AHA-affiliated Web sites will continue to exist independently, the portal can allow information to be shared efficiently among all sites.

What are the benefits to registered members?

  • With one click of the mouse, registered members can search all of the portal partner sites for critical information – whether it's the latest news from Capitol Hill or an update on HIPAA.
  • ASHRM will be able to provide more Web-based services, such as surveys and e-learning.

How is the ASHRM site changing?

The arrival of the AHA portal has prompted the redesign of www.ashrm.org. All of the popular features of www.ashrm.org are being moved to the new design. The design has been changed significantly, but the sections (such as About ASHRM and News & Comment) should be familiar to current users or sensibly renamed. Every attempt has been made to place features in the most appropriate location.

However, some new features may not yet be operational. Details on these will be announced as they become available.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED

To access the benefits of the www.hospitalconnect.com portal, members must register. The one-time registration is fast and easy by simply following the prompts. Select a username and password (with letters and digits), and then provide your membership number. The first three digits you enter must be zeroes.

If you have misplaced your membership number, call (800) 424-4301 or (312) 422-3980.

Thank you

ASHRM appreciates its members' patience during this transition, and trusts they will enjoy the continued improvements in www.ashrm.org, the profession’s most complete online resource.
