    Program Information

    Audience

Anyone who wants to understand the foundational concepts of patient safety and learn to effectively apply them to effect positive change

    Chapter Course

As a service to local chapters that want to support the professional development of their members, ASHRM offers a locally administered Patient Safety Curriculum course. This is a convenient, cost-effective local version of the courses provided by ASHRM.

    Fee

ASHRM has set a standard administration fee of $3,000 for chapters to cover all specified support.  This fee covers:

    • Honoraria for 2 faculty administered by ASHRM
    • Travel, accommodations and expenses for 2 faculty arranged by ASHRM
    • Provision of a master set of handout materials
    • Processing of contact hours of continuing education credits toward CPHRM renewal, FASHRM/DFASHRM designations, and Nursing through the Illinois Nurses Association.
    • Provision of certificates of attendance with approved continuing education documentation

    Recommended Process

    1. Pick a date: It's optimal to allow three months to plan and market an event.  Check with ASHRM to make sure the prospective date does not conflict with ASHRM programming.
    2. Select the session (Part I or Part II) and faculty: ASHRM has a roster of credentialed faculty and will coordinate faculty involvement.
    3. Select a location and set the fee: Chapters set the participant fee, which depends on the expected number of participants, where the course will be held, whether lunch will be served and other factors.
    4. Promote the event: ASHRM promotes local chapter courses in eNews and on the ASHRM Web site.
    5. Cancellation policy: Fees, less a $150 cancellation fee, are refundable only if written notice is postmarked or emailed no later than 20 business days before the session date. After 20 business days, fees are refundable, less air travel expenses for two faculty and a $150 cancellation fee.
