Should the modules be taken sequentially?
Yes. Each module’s content rises from one to the next. Essentials is an ideal educational base for new risk managers, and an excellent up-to-date refresher for more experienced professionals. As the next step, Applications shows how principles described in Essentials actually work in the real world. The Advanced Forum consists of expertly guided, small-group analysis of complex challenges and is most beneficial when all participants are able to share their proven solutions.
Where will the courses be offered?
In June at the Hyatt Regency Austin, 208 Barton Springs Rd., on the shore of Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin, TX. The ASHRM discounted room rate is $185 single/double. Attendees must make their own reservations. Call (512) 477-1234 or (800) 233-1234 by May 9 and request the ASHRM rate.
In October, the Essentials Module will precede the Annual Conference in Denver. Reservations and ASHRM room details will be announced in May with Annual Conference materials.
Are travel discounts available?
There are two ways to save when making your travel arrangements for ASHRM educational programs.
Association Travel Concepts (ATC) is a personalized service that can provide you access to special discounts on not only your airline tickets but also car rental, hotel, event tickets, dining and more. To start saving immediately, contact ATC via e-mail at farequoteaha@atcmeetings.com or call (800) 458-9383. (When calling or sending an e-mail, reference promotional code 500CJ.) A minimal service fee will apply to ticketed reservations.
ASHRM has also secured a special discount agreement with United Airlines that is not available to the public. There are no fees for booking online or calling the Special Meeting Desk.
Online: To take advantage of a 5 percent discount, go to www.united.com, use “Book Travel” to enter your travel criteria, go to “More Search Options” and enter the promotional code 500CJ. Available flights will be displayed. Flights that qualify for the discount will be identified with a green star symbol, which means that the itinerary is “electronic certificate eligible” and the discounted fare will be automatically calculated. This special offer applies only to flights to and from the United States.
Phone: Contact United’s Special Meeting Desk at (800) 521-4041 (or have your travel agent call) and reference the promotional code 500CJ to receive a 2-15 percent discount off applicable fares. If you purchase your ticket at least 30 days prior to travel, you will receive an additional 5 percent discount (on some classes of service). This special offer applies to travel on domestic and international segments of all United Airlines, United Express and United code share flights operated by Lufthansa and Air Canada.
Car rental discounts: Special meeting rates negotiated with Hertz are available by calling (800) 654-2240 from within the United States, or (405) 749-4434 from outside the United States, and giving the reservationist the meeting number CV# 03AB0005.
What about education credits?
A certificate of attendance with continuing education credits awarded for each module is provided with the assumption of full attendance of each program. ASHRM may withhold a certificate for incomplete attendance, as determined by program monitors.
Visit the Programs Credits page for complete details about continuing education credits for each module.
How do I receive my certificate of completion for the entire program?
Upon completion of all three modules of the Barton Certificate in Healthcare Risk Management Program, ASHRM is pleased to award a certificate of completion for the entire program. Candidates must complete and return the certificate of completion application, along with copies of each module's certificate, to ASHRM to be eligible for the certificate of completion. Once received, ASHRM will process and send back the certificate of completion to the successful participant.
What is the cancellation/substitution policy?
Registration fees, less a $100 cancellation fee for each module, are refundable only if written notice is postmarked no later than 10 business days before each session date. All cancellation and refund requests must be made in writing to: ASHRM, One North Franklin, Suite 2800, Chicago, IL 60606; fax (312) 422-4580.
Contact the hotel directly to inquire about cancellation or refund of hotel deposits. ASHRM cannot be held liable for non-refundable airline tickets or hotel room deposits.
ASHRM reserves the right to reschedule or cancel a program because of an insufficient number of registrations or to close registration when programs are full. ASHRM may cancel a program when circumstances beyond ASHRM’s control – including, but not limited to, acts of God, governmental authority or war in the United States – make it impractical or impossible to host the program or may put participants in harm’s way. In such cases, ASHRM will refund one-half of the registration fee paid by the registrant.
Substitutions: Registrants unable to attend may send an alternate. If the alternate is not a member of ASHRM and the original registrant is a member, the non-member differential must be paid.
