    Faculty

Barton Modules faculty are seasoned leaders from a variety of settings. They are healthcare risk management professionals who practice in risk financing, claims administration, insurance, patient safety, ethics, compliance and other domains covered in the courses.
    Essentials faculty
    Applications faculty
    Advanced Forum faculty

    Format

Methods of instruction for the Modules include lecture, discussion, classroom exercises, case study and optional final exam.

    Sequence

ASHRM recommends that you take the Modules in sequence. Each module’s content rises from one to the next. Essentials is an ideal educational base for new risk managers, and an excellent up-to-date refresher for more experienced professionals. As the next step, Applications shows how principles described in Essentials actually work in the real world. The Advanced Forum consists of expertly guided, small-group analysis of complex challenges and is most beneficial when all participants are able to share their proven solutions.

    Housing & Travel

    Accommodations

October programs will precede the Annual Conference in Tampa, FL. Reservations and ASHRM room details are available through the Annual Conference site.

    Travel

There are two ways to save when making your travel arrangements for ASHRM educational programs.

Association Travel Concepts (ATC) is a personalized service that can provide you access to special discounts on not only your airline tickets but also car rental, hotel, event tickets, dining and more. To start saving immediately, contact ATC via e-mail at farequoteaha@atcmeetings.com or call (800) 458-9383. (When calling or sending an e-mail, reference promotional code 500CJ.)  A minimal service fee will apply to ticketed reservations.

ASHRM has also secured a special discount agreement with United Airlines that is not available to the public. There are no fees for booking online or calling the Special Meeting Desk.

Online: To take advantage of a 5 percent discount, go to www.united.com, use “Book Travel” to enter your travel criteria, go to “More Search Options” and enter the promotional code 500CJ. Available flights will be displayed.  Flights that qualify for the discount will be identified with a green star symbol, which means that the itinerary is “electronic certificate eligible” and the discounted fare will be automatically calculated. This special offer applies only to flights to and from the United States.

Phone: Contact United’s Special Meeting Desk at (800) 521-4041 (or have your travel agent call) and reference the promotional code 500CJ to receive a 2-15 percent discount off applicable fares. If you purchase your ticket at least 30 days prior to travel, you will receive an additional 5 percent discount (on some classes of service). This special offer applies to travel on domestic and international segments of all United Airlines, United Express and United code share flights operated by Lufthansa and Air Canada.

Car rental discounts: Special meeting rates negotiated with Hertz are available by calling (800) 654-2240 from within the United States, or (405) 749-4434 from outside the United States, and giving the reservationist the meeting number CV# 03AB0005.

    Education Credits

    Continuing education credits

A certificate of attendance with continuing education credits awarded for each module is provided with the assumption of full attendance of each program. ASHRM may withhold a certificate for incomplete attendance, as determined by program monitors. Visit the Programs Credits page for complete details about continuing education credits for each module.

    Certificates of completion

Upon completion of all three modules of the Barton Certificate in Healthcare Risk Management Program, ASHRM is pleased to award a certificate of completion for the entire program.  Candidates must complete and return the certificate of completion application, along with copies of each module's certificate, to ASHRM to be eligible for the certificate of completion. Once received, ASHRM will process and send back the certificate of completion to the successful participant.
