Michael Steele was recently named MSNBC’s political analyst. He is a contributor on the Fox News channel and a regular host of the Salem Radio Network’s nationally syndicated “Morning in America.” Steele became the first African-American elected to statewide office in Maryland when he was elected Lieutenant Governor of Maryland in 2003. He was chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) from 2009-2011. Under his leadership, the RNC broke fundraising records in 2010 and, for the first time in U.S. history, a party that suffered consecutive losses the previous two elections rebounded to win a majority in the 2010 election.
A corporate finance attorney, Steele earned a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. He founded his own company, The Steele Group, a business and legal consulting firm. His writings on law, business and politics have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, The Washington Times and other newspapers and political websites.
