    Getting Involved with ASHRM

ASHRM appreciates members’ willingness to volunteer for our committees and task forces. We are grateful we have such dedicated members and count on your professional expertise to assist us in providing education on healthcare risk management and patient safety topics. With the overwhelming interest from members, we have been fortunate to receive more applications than available positions. This predicament highlights the outstanding commitment of our membership.

However, we encourage members to get involved through additional volunteering opportunities such as:

Pearls Work Groups–A call for volunteers will be sent out throughout 2013 as topics are identified. Contact Mary LaRusso.

Journal Writers Pool– Do you have an article or article topic you would like to submit for consideration to the Journal of Healthcare Risk Management? Click here for more information.

Forum Writers Pool–Be added to the list of those willing to write feature articles for the Forum quarterly newsletter. Contact Mary LaRusso.

Annual Conference Speaker–Submit a speaker proposal for the Annual Conference. Proposals are typically due in December of each year, but also look for a call for hot topics speakers closer to the date of the meeting. Contact Sara Giannoulias.

    Additional Volunteer Opportunities

    • Educational content–Join work groups that develop and review educational content and assets for risk managers. Contact ashrm@aha.org.
    • Webinar presenter–Submit a proposal to develop and deliver an ASHRM webinar. Contact ashrm@aha.org.
    • Contribute to ASHRM Exchange–Log-in regularly and share your expertise with others and help build virtual communities. For log-in information, contact ashrm@aha.org.
    • Serve in your local Chapter–Most chapters are in great need of dedicated volunteers. Working at your local chapter can help you advance your career and build skills to help with future volunteer assignments. Contact your local chapter or go to the ASHRM chapter page for more information.

ASHRM limits the number of volunteer slots each year so that each committee or task force can keep all of its members active and engaged. However, we are working to enhance our volunteer selection process so that we can rotate volunteers while still maintaining continuity in our products and services.

Thank you for your continued support of ASHRM!
