    Membership

    The American Society for Healthcare Risk Management is a Personal Membership Group of the American Hospital Association with nearly 6,000 members representing clinical, insurance, law and other related professions.

    ASHRM promotes effective and innovative risk management strategies and professional leadership through education, recognition, advocacy, publications, networking and interactions with leading healthcare organizations and government agencies.

    ASHRM initiatives focus on developing and implementing safe and effective patient care practices, the preservation of financial resources and the maintenance of safe working environments.

    New Members

    Members joining ASHRM should receive e-mail confirmation of membership and electronic new members packet within a week of joining ASHRM.  If you have questions about your new ASHRM membership, please contact us.

    Eligibility

    Membership is open to professionals whose job responsibilities include healthcare risk management or who have demonstrated a bona fide interest in the field of healthcare risk management and who agree to support the mission, vision and code of professional responsibility of the Society, according to the ASHRM bylaws.

    Membership in ASHRM follows the individual and is not transferable to another person or institution.

    Student Memberships
    A student member is a full-time student registered at an institution of higher learning and not eligible as a regular member (defined as one actively involved in the field of healthcare risk management or whose job responsibilities include healthcare risk management). To qualify, students must fax a completed registration form together with a copy of a recent transcript or current membership card showing full-time student status to (312) 422-3609. Each student application is reviewed prior to approval.
