One way for ASHRM members to address future needs of the profession is through ASHRM’s new mentoring program. This initiative orients new members on the many opportunities that await them. In addition, the mentoring program allows veteran ASHRM members to share their insights and offer support to the next generation of risk managers.

ASHRM hopes to match mentors with interested newcomers by geographic region and/or area of expertise. Prospective mentors should provide contact information and specify a practice area from the following that they would feel most comfortable sharing:

• claims and litigation administration
• risk financing
• loss prevention
• regulatory/accreditation compliance
• professional development/risk management as a career
• risk management program development/operations.

Each mentor’s name and contact information will be shared with a new ASHRM member, and participants will define the extent of communication.
