Douglas Borg, MHA, ARM, CPHRM, is the Director of Medical Center Risk Management at Duke University Medical Center and Health System in Durham, NC. Paul English Smith, BA, JD, FASHRM, CPHRM, is Vice President and General Counsel of Cabell Huntington Hospital, a 300-plus bed regional referral center with a Level II trauma designation, high risk OB, NICU, PICU, Burn Unit and ground and aeromedical transport services. He oversees the hospital's self-insurance program, malpractice defense, large claims resolution, corporate compliance, HIPAA privacy compliance and risk management education. He is also involved in medical staff credentialing, infection control, bioethics and the hospital's Institutional Review Board. In 1985, he left private practice to join Cabell and was appointed Vice President in 2000. He has chaired ASHRM's publications and professional ethics committees and is a past board member of the West Virginia Society for Healthcare Risk Management.

Ben Gonzales is Director of Risk Management at Montana Health Network, Inc., a consortium of morethan 40 hospitals. Sharon Groves has been employed in risk management for 17 years and currently works for Berkley Medical Excess Underwriters. She served as a critical care nurse and in 1990, moved into a risk management position, where she was responsible for providing risk and claims management services for a 650-bed level I trauma center. After 20 years of hospital work, she left to become a risk consultant. She holds a BSN from Otterbein College and graduated with an MSA from Central Michigan University. She is a past president of the Ohio Society for Healthcare Risk Management and has served on ASHRM's Annual Conference Committee.

Kathleen Murray is Director of Risk Management at Boston Medical Center. Gregory Terrell has been active as a healthcare risk management professional for more than 16 years. Terie Zimmerman has joined Catholic Healthcare Partners (CHP) as a patient safety officer. Terie is the first of four divisional patient safety officers hired to help accelerate patient safety and clinical transformation across the entire system as part of a strategic focus to be a leader in quality and patient safety. Terie brings a wealth of knowledge and a broad perspective in part because of her background as both a registered nurse and an attorney at law. Terie has been active on corporate, state and national committees that address risk management; patient safety; legislative and regulatory issues; research, and other initiatives. She is well-known nationally because of her presentations on patient safety and risk management, as well as testimony to state and national hearings on risk, legal and regulatory topics. She is past president of the Ohio Society of Risk Managers and was voted the Ohio Risk Manager of the Year in 2003. She is currently a fellow in and a member of the board of the American Society of Healthcare Risk Managers.
